Thanks for numbers!

Gujarat vigorous monsoon - widespread 3 digit rains 100-200mm in 24 hrs!

When will North East monsoon start over South East India (Tamil Nadu, Entire South Andhra, south east interior Karnataka). Figures for TN are low - all depends on onset of NEM - this has failed since 2015.

Will be interesting to know most driest states -> TN, AP, GUJ, RAJ ? Obviously will not be GUJ or RAJ - bumper excess SWM.

Hopes on NEM forTN,AP,KAR - then we can evaluate driest states

Pradeep, can you please put up the values for Kerekatte as well?

Just curious as that place is a representative of Kudremukh region rainfall.

Thank you

Hi SSET
The entire south india including TN has had an excellent monsoon. Please read the south west monsoon report from IMD. Comparisons with other parts of india is not going to change that fact.

Saurabh

Thanks Pradeep, Abhijit for such a quick and fascinating compilation. Unbiased reporting as genuine pluviophiles. It has been a superlative SWM this year and the Vagaries team has made it even more joyous to follow. An unforgettable monsoon for rain lovers.

Thanks to GSB,Pradeep,Abhijeet for prompt numbers.
If we notice Tamil Nadu and South AP rayalseema regions have received only 50% of rain what GUJ/RAJ has received. Even if add unreliable NEM figures will this augment for TN/AP?
Now we can see observe driest states and regions of India - it is no longer GUJ or RAJ but TN/AP. Main reason can be climate changes over decade - SWM is becoming stronger but NEM is becoming weaker every passing year. SWM always tends to be strong and spend more duration over MAHA,Central India,GUJ,RAJ leading to less rains in lower latitudes. Main worry is lack of rains over SI KAR - Cauvery catchments - Kodagu basin / Augumbe.
As far as northern parts are concerned they have bountiful ganges + WDs (annoying for NEM) to rescue apart from SWM.
