Once more, a round of snow for J&K, Ladakh, H.P, and Uttarkahnad with the advancing Western Disturbance J-3. Commencing 22nd thru 24th.


Rains/Hail also likely on 22nd/23rd in Punjab, Haryana and maybe light rainfall in parts of Delhi.

Colder temperatures in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi after 23rd..

Temperatures likely to drop in Rajasthan, M.P, Gujarat and Maharashtra from 24th..after the W.D....will put up details for the weekend..

NEM likely to withdraw with change of winds in next 2 days. But a lone Easterly wave could bring some rainfall back end of this month to T.N..

(-) 8.4c: Srinagar witnesses coldest temp. in 29 years

The cold wave prevailing in the Valley for last few weeks intensified on 14th Morning breaking a 29-year long record as summer capital Srinagar froze at (-) 8.4c, making it the coldest recorded night since 1991. The lowest recorded temperature in Srinagar during the last three decades was in January 1991 when mercury plummeted to (-)11.8c. The Lowest ever in Jan was (-) 14.4c in 1893.
The Lowest ever for any month is (-) 20.0c on 6th Feb 1895.

A January to remember for life time in Tamil Nadu - Stats and Records - Special update

There are around 500 number of Rain Gauge stations available in Tamil Nadu which are maintained by WRO, TNEB and mostly by Revenue Departments. There are then 30 observatory stations which are maintained by IMD for which records are available. Lets see what are the record broken in these observatories. Records might have been broken in other Rain Gauge stations, but historic data is not available for all years with me.

Even in observatories, in my 20 years of data collection, there has never been so many records broken for a single month and spread over coastal, west TN, Interior TN and South TN. January 2021 will remain as a special year.
