Intense Cold weather continues in North India...

                                     At minus 19.8 degrees, Kargil town was the coldest in Jammu and Kashmir

North India is reeling under intense cold wave. Amritsar in Punjab recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 1 °C. Bhantinda too,braved a cold night at 2.7 °C. Ludhiana at 4 °C , Patiala at 4.6 °C, Chandigarh recorded 5.4 °C. Others towns like Anandpur Sahib & Pathankot recorded a minimum of 5.9 °C & 5.5 °C respectively.

Haryana got some respite from the cold weather as most places in the state saw rise in minimum temperature by 2-3 °C. Hisar recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 3.4 °C. The city got respite from the freezing weather. Similarly Narnaul which saw freezing temperatures past few days also shown an increasing trend with minimum settling at 3.5 °C. Bhiwani at 6 °C. Kurukshetra at a low of 6.2 °C. Rohtak at 6.9 °C & Ambala at 7.5 °C.

Delhi-NCR also saw a rise in minimum temperature with Safdarjung recording 7.8 °C today. Palam also recorded a low of 8.2 °C, two notches above average. Also dense fog engulfed many parts of the region today with visibility dropping below 50m at a few places. Jafarpur remained the coldest place in the region at 5.8 °C. Mungeshpur at 6.2 °C, Najafgarh at 6.5 °C. Ayanagar & Ridge at 7 °C & 7.2 °C. Lodhi Road at 7.8 °C & DU at 8.4 °C
In NCR, Hindon recorded the lowest temperature of 6.3 °C. Also Nuh at 7.1 °C followed by Meerut at 7.3 °C. Faridabad at 8.2 °C. Noida at 9.4 °C and Indirapuram at 10 °C.

In Rajasthan, Sriganganagar turned out to be the coldest place(Plains) at a minimum of 1.7 °C. Churu recorded minimum of 4.1 °C today. The city got respite from the severe cold weather when temperature dropped to -2.7 °C on 3rd January(Friday). Also FATEHPUR in Shekhawati region on 3rd January dropped to -4.2 °C. It remained the coldest place in the state that day. The water in the pipelines froze during the early morning hours in both the cities. Mount Abu, in the hills, today recorded a low of 0 °C. Bikaner at 5.7 °C, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur at 6.2°C  & 6.4 °C. The state capital, Jaipur recorded a low of 9 °C, a notch above average. Other towns in the state such as Barmer, Udaipur & Ajmer recorded a low of 7.6 °C, 7.8 °C & 8.8 °C respectively. Kota received 4.8 mm of rain till today morning with minimum settling at 15.6 °C, five notches above average. The city is getting good rainfall from the past few days.

In Uttar Pradesh, few parts of the state got light rainfall due to which these places recorded above normal minimum temperatures. The state capital Lucknow settled at a low of 6.6 °C with 0.2 mm of rain. Nearby Kanpur also recorded a minimum of 6.7 °C with 4.2 mm of rainfall. Varanasi at 13.6 °C, Allahabad at 14 °C with 2.3 mm of rain. Gorakhpur stood at 9.5 °C today. Also Jhansi in Bundelkhand received 7.6 mm of rain.
In the western part, Bareilly recorded a minimum of 6.6 °C, Meerut at 7.3 °C, Moradabad at 7.8 °C. Aligarh & Agra at 8.4 °C & 8.8 °C respectively.

Intense cold wave continued to swept across Jammu & Kashmir with Pahalgam dropping to -12 °C, four notches below normal along with 0.12 cm of snow. Gulmarg also recorded a low of -9.8 °C, three notches below average. Leh however saw an increase in temperature with minimum settling at -8.6 °C. QAZIGUND dropped to -8 °C, five notches below average. Summer capital Srinagar dropped to -4.2 °C. Kupwara at -2.8 °C. Banihal in Jammu area dropped to -3.2 °C, three notches below average. Bhaderwah at -1.9 °C and Batote at 1.1 °C. Jammu city recorded a minimum of 5.6 °C, two notches below average. Katra remained at 6.9 °C.

Many places in Himachal Pradesh got rainfall/snowfall yesterday. Bharmaur got 30 cm snow, Keylong which recorded a minimum of -6.8 °C also recorded 11 cm of snow till today morning. Kalpa got 1 cm of snow with minimum of -2.4 °C. Manali received 11 mm of rain and a minimum of -0.6 °C. Kullu received 1.3 mm of rain and minimum of 3.9 °C. Dalhousie with 5 mm of rain and a low of 0.4 °C. Dharamsala with 2.6 mm rain & minimum of 5.4 °C. State capital Shimla recorded a minimum of 2.7 °C with 0.1 mm of rain. Una in the plains recorded a minimum of 3 °C along with 4 mm of rain.

In Uttarakhand, Almora recorded 0.2 °C and Tehri stood at 0.4 °C. Mukteshwar at 1.9 °C, Pithoragarh at 4.2 °C, Haridwar at 4.5 °C. State capital, Dehradun recorded a low of 7.6 °C, two notches above average. Famous hill stations of the state like Mussorie & Nainital recorded a minimum of 2.8 °C & 4.9 °C respectively.
