@ Nilay: Generally Arabian sea host lows in Pre-SWM to onset time period i.e between mid May to mid June and later at withdrawal period to post swm time between mid Sep to mid Oct.

In SWM time Bay low moving W/NW upto Sindh is normal and ARB branch off shore trough with pull effect is rain driver for west coast

Thanks Abhijit for quenching my thirst on this one.....

Sir is Indian monsoon is going to be in monsoon break condition from 2august - 11th august,,,,, West and central India going to be in dry phase of 15 days,,,, sir your views in this regard,,,,

Aks said...

In that case when is the west coast offshore trough likely to form and strengthen again. Imd mentions cyclonic circulation off andhara coast. Any benefit to mumbai n mah. Pls comment.

sset said...

Nilay - 1st major surge over GUJ actually originated from Arabian sea to give torrential rains over 300mm. This low actually persisted entire july month hovering between UAC / low and at times getting strengthened by bay low.

sset said...

RAJ again with torrential rains between 300-200mm -> everything is agains IMD long range forecast -> They predicted normal rains for south India, excess for NE India, low for NW India- but reality -> drought for south India, excess for NW India, normal for NE India! Last year 2016 also IMD was wrong with long range forecast

1 more spell of rains Ahmadabad will exceed Mumbai - Colaba. 2017 Thane, Navi Mumbai areas received more rain 2000-3000mm compared to Mumbai city. Of course ghats are giants > 4000mm.

sset said...

Actually long intense break monsoon are VERY much required. That is only time during SWM by GODS grace some rains will occur over much of south India - otherwise bye from rains.

A sunny day today in Mumbai except a stray shower in the morning

Cumulus arjun said...

Sir, when do you expect heavy rains again in Mumbai?

Avtansh said...

@sset Long intense break monsoon is required? Most unfortunate that you think this way. In your fixation with Konkan and Gujarat, you have conveniently forgotten about lack of rains / droughts in interior Maharashtra (Marathwada, Vidarbha etc.). I've never heard a word from you about these areas and the water scarcity there.

But we should no longer be surprised. It has been more than 5 years since you've spoken nothing but unadulterated lies as part of your propaganda towards an ulterior agenda. As you go about it, would still advise you to be sensitive to others / other areas.
