This time around Mumbai rains are not aa good as last year comparing same period. In fact in maha the rains are lower comparatively. Glimpses of July rain but no continuous July rains. At 9.30 am it's partly sunny in goregaon. If monday will see decrease in rains then when are rains expected to pick up really well in whole mah?
North Arabian sea is becoming like mysterious "Bermuda Triangle" recipient for AS and BAY lows...
TN Madurai boils at 40c..
Akshay.. Rain in Mumbai decreases only one day on Monday. Then effect of low will increase rains from Tuesday.

Sir,
Yes waiting for 250-300 mm rain in a day for mumbai.
Sir what will be forecast for interior maharashtra marathwada it seems they are in bad situation.
Who is topping the list in maharashtra till date is it shirgaon ?
@ Akshay : You are correct. Mumbai not yet witnessing typical style monsoon yet! Means typical persistent rains are missing not a single day without sun yet. Forget 200 mm in 24 hrs but not a single 100mm in day from SCZ & Colaba yet with almost 45 days over of monsoon ! Infact in July till now whole west coast seeing lesser than normal rain as yet. Only best part is ghats keeping momentum going so atleast water level in dams is increasing.
Yes... I agree with Abhijit... This time rains are not the July monster rains.... Less than last year.
This may be due to Bay low/monsoon axis descending from north and making direct west hit to GUJ. Intensity of rains is much much more compared to any cyclones. Sustained 400mm-500mm of rain for multiple days is something exceptional... recall 2013 sept GUJ floods...
That means every month from june-sept equal probability of GUJ being hit by floods!
Today Saurashtra in floods many places in 300-200mm range! Entire GUJ must have received annual rain.
Rohit can can enlighten more on numbers.
sir what u ecoect for Sindh specially karachi
What about Surat?? Rajesh sir really bad time till now for Surat no proper rains this July
Sset: Only Saurashtra( and that too some center) was lucky this time. Gujarat completely got missed
@ Vinod : Yes, Shirgaon (Ratnagiri) is topping the list in Maharashtra with 3068 mm seasonal rainfall till today.
Extremely heavy rain received rajkot and jamnagar regional. sir can we expect more rain in rajkot from 23 july please reply
can we hope for more rain in rajkot from 23 rd july ???
Yes Mumbai has received 3 digit rains in many parts only Santacruz observatory and Colaba has not received.Whatever the case may be Mumbai monsoon is amazing as always.
@sset no entire gujarat has not rec'd full season rainfall. It's only some pockets in saurashtra ie north area. South gujarat north konkan is deficient. Thankfully ghat sections are keeping up pace so water is accumulated in lakes. I hope this new low brings heavy rains to west coast sections from south gujarat to Kerala including mumbai and we see typical 3 digit July rainfall with heavy clouds. Till now no holiday due to rains as yet 😉
Rajesh Sir - There is one tropical depression from south china sea which has come inland over vietnam and cambodia. The winds are seen travelling westwards.
Will a pulse from this come to the bay of bengal and sustain further low pressure areas.
Regards
Vijith.
What's the average rainfall figure for Mumbai for month of July...and how much has it received yet....any information on that Sir...or anybody who know can give...
Non stop torrential downpours entire Navi Mumbai- Looks like Bay + west trough is going to dump 200mm+ of rain!
Definitely abnormal in south India- Kodagu,Waynad (Cauvery basin) deficit by 50%. July coming to end - will monsoon revive - no weather systems developing south ??? 3rd year of drought over Cauvery basin...
Strange some people asking for rains - which has already rained in excess amounts but places like Ananthapur,Rayalseema,Chittor have not seen rains for last 5 years!
What are your predictions for rain in Mumbai from Tuesday as it's said by skymet it would rain heavy whole of the week
Hello Rajesh Sir,
Writing to you after a long time. This year there has practically no rain in Nagpur in July. And entire Vidarbha is deficient. What is the forecast for remaining July.

Very heavy rains here in andheri Mumbai..if the rains continue for few more hours..its going to be a long way back home for mumbaikars due to flooding.

@Rajesh..Last year you used to put up flash snippets on your blog ..updating to take caution whenever you thought the rains would be heavy especially for Mumbai. Have you discontinued it this year ?
Mumbai Scruz 127mm till 8.30pm today . Finally gets first century of this monsoon. With this crossed 100cm seasonal total as 1068 mm till 8.30pm today
