Could this be the worst NEM in recorded history? I have heard Chennai clocked 93mm somewhere in early 20th century as its overall NEM rain and this could be worse?

Arjun: Chennai got thuder showers on Saturday night...27 mms. Several parts of TN got moderate showers, amongst them Nannilam (Tiruvarur Dist) 8, Aduthurai AWS (Thanjavur Dist), Nanguneri (Tirunelveli Dist), Chennai
AP (Kancheepuram Dist), Kanyakumari (Kanyakumari Dist) 3 each, in cms.

I expect good rains in TN by November end.

Time to rewrite textbooks, geography..... India driest places are in South East India and NOT Rajisthan .. Jaiselmar is much better and cooler! What happens to NE monsoon currents in future if it vanishes/weakens?

Sset: plz do not comment about south East India if you are not genuinely concerned about it. We are proud about NEM for whatever gives it is our lifeline. NEM being cyclic monsoon can fail during some years

Dear SSET
The conclusions you draw are both fascinating and scary.

I request you to compile the performance of NEM(absolute rainfall and deviation from normal) over the last 16 years and share it with us.

Saurabh
