Moving at present as per estimated direction, with core winds at 50 knts. 

Will get nearer to Chennai in the next 2/4 hrs, before re-curving.

The Mumbai TOI today carries an article about whether this year's Monsoon will suffer as last year. Scary to read as a Mumbaikar knowing how much water is now left (never seen a water shortage situation such as this in Mumbai in my living memory).

Interesting to note though is that this is the third cyclone affecting India in a 12 month rolling period. 2 in Bay of Bengal and one in Arabian sea (in November of last year). Are we seeing an above average trend of Cyclones?

i personally do not think that the cyclone will affect the monsoon much but it might delay the monsoon for sure...it might take time to regroup...

I would not think there is any increasing in cyclone trends. Last year we had 1 in April, and 1 in May. Reg. Mumbai you are right. Thats why I have been putting concern over the water situation, and the position in my blogs.
