Cherrapunji crosses 10K mark & back at home ghats Amboli crossed 6K & Tamhini achieved 5K mark on 15-08-2020

World's Wettest place, Cherrapunji's crosses 10000 mm milestone Achievement details is as follow:

Pre-Monsoon Rainfall total till 31st May was 2469 mm

Seasonal Current Monsoonal Rainfall so far from 1st June till date 15 Aug 2020 stands on 7585 mm

So with this Annual Rainfall so far since 1st January till 15th August stands on 10,054 mms!


In Maharashtra ghats we have our wettest spots Amboli & Tamhini who also achieved 6K & 5K mark respectively !

Amboli in Sindhudurg district which is near of Sawantwadi town, achieved 6K mark ! As Seasonal Rainfall stands on 6175 mms till date.

Let us see how Amboli achieved the same with it’s monthly basis Rainfall in mm

Tamhini hill station in Pune district which is nearest tourist destination for Punekars, today achieves 5K mark after recording 230 mm rainfall ending 8.30 am today ! As Seasonal Rainfall stands on 5200 mms till 15 Aug 2020.

Forecast for Marathwada for 14th/15th/16th:

Normal rainfall will continue with an average of around 10-25 millimetres per day. Aurangabad district will also get around 10-20 millimeters on Friday and Saturday. Chance of heavy rain on Sunday. Carefully clear water from the fields to avoid accumulation.

Jayakwadi is 57% full.

Vag. Shitij from Surat gives this data: 3 days heavy rainfall for Surat; till 6 a.m..12th August 75 mms, 13th August 108 mms and 14th August 104 mms ...and continuing...

Fairly widespread and good rainfall will continue in Gujarat this weekend (Sat/Sun) also.

Valsad will get fairly frequent showers next 2 days. Around 30-50 mms/day.

Mumbai: 14th/15th/16th: Frequent on-off showers with a few heavy spells. Showers with gusty winds will occur during the weekend.

Lake areas got 100-200 mms rainfall in the last 2 days.Lakes supplying water are 65% full and storage for 8 months available today. 

Pune; Cool weekend with days around 24/25c..occasional rains around 15-25 mms per day this weekend.

Panshet at 81%, Khadakvasla at 99 %, Warasgaon at 67 %,Mulshi at 78%, Pawna at 59%.

Goa: Heavy showers from this weekend..around 30-50 mms /day.

Delhi: Moderate showers continue, Some areas will get heavy rainfall.

Vagaries' Weather for next 3 days from 10th August

BB-2 has moved away towards Oman and weakened.

BB-3 has formed as shown , and expected to track along the Monsoon Axis.

Estimate for 10th/11th/12th August:

Mumbai: Next 3 days ( Monday thru Wednesday) will see a n increase in rainfall, cloudy skies with frequent rain showers (But not long and not persistent), in intervals.   Rainfall will also consist of a few heavy downpours.  Normal monsoon winds. No cause for fresh major flooding.

Mumbai lakes storage at 49%, almost 6 months stock now.

Pune: Cloud, cool, with normal Monsoon rains upto 10-12 mms/day.

Goa: Moderately frequent heavy showers for next 3 days. Around 35-45 mms/day.

Delhi: Rains increasing from Monday 10th. Heavy thunder showers expected in these next 3 days. Finally day cooling down to 30/31c.

Jabalpur: Medium to heavy rains next 3 days, around 25-35 mms/day.

Karachi: No major rain event, expect a light drizzle in some areas.
