This winter's first strong Western Disturbance (WD) to affect the country during 22nd-23rd January!
A strong WD is expected to affect Western Himalayas and northern plains bringing moderate-heavy rain and heavy snowfall over the Himalayan regions of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and western parts of Nepal.
Travel should be avoided in the mountains unless very necessary.
Rain/thundershowers likely in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR region and western Uttar Pradesh.
Mumbai: Warmer days around 31-33°C before the WD, till 22nd January. Nights can be around 18°C. Both day and night temperatures dropping with cool breeze on 23rd and 24th January. Days could be around 29-30°C, and nights may get more pleasant to around 16°C. Not expecting a cold wave for Mumbai region from this WD.
Thane and Palghar districts will see cooler nights than Mumbai.
Pune: Warmer days and nights till 22nd January around 31-32°C/15°C range. It will cool down to around 30-31°C and 13-14°C by 23rd and 24th.
Nashik/Dhule/Jalgaon districts could be 1-3°C cooler than Pune region.
Lonavala and Mahabaleshwar - cooler nights around 11-12°C from 23rd/24th onwards
Gujarat: Effect of the WD will be felt from 23rd/24th onwards as daytime temperatures across most of the state will dip to around 29-30°C on 23rd and below 28°C on 24th January. Nights getting cooler with below 16°C on 23rd and below 14°C in many regions of north Gujarat and Saurashtra during 24th-25th January.
