Hurricane #Erin in the Atlantic is now Category 5 (140 knots). It intensified explosively from Category 1 (65 knots) to Category 5 (140 knots) in a span of just 24 hours.

Very Heavy rainfall expected in Konkan, Goa and Ghats from 16th - 18th.
Heavy rainfall in Gujarat Region on 18th ( Surat,Ahmedabad, Baroda, Bharuch).
Mumbai: Rainfall frequency increasing from 16th and very heavy showers on 17th/18th. Orange Alert for 17th/18th with localised flooding.
Pune: Frequent showers, with some heavy falls on 17th/18th.
Goa: Very heavy showers on 17th/18th.

In Croatia, air temperature records were set in Šibenik, at 39.5C, and Dubrovnik, at 38.9C, while large forest fires raged along its coasts and ripped through neighbouring countries in the Balkans.
The day before, Hungary broke its daily maximum temperature record when a weather station in Körösladány hit 39.9C. The capital, Budapest, also broke its daily maximum record as it sweltered through 38.7C heat.
