Final Verdict: All India SWM winner is Amboli with a close win over Agumbe and Kollur
After 90 days of South West Monsoon, we finally have a winner and it is Amboli from Maharashtra. 80 mm separated the top three. The legend Cherrapunji managed to cross 6000 mm mark. It was really a classic fight between Kollur and Agumbe till the end.
I will still continue to rank the toppers in North East Monsoon too. From Tamil Nadu, Chinna Kallar made the list with 4800 mm rainfall. Watch out for this place in NEM. It gets rains in NEM too.

shridhar/svt: Many areas of Mumbai got showers today (Monday) morning, ranging from 3 mms-10 mms.
I see SWM withdrawing today from Vidharbh and Chattisgarh.
My actaul observation of the developments in Mumbai today showed an increase in towering cb clouds.and a dis-colouration of the cloud tops.
I see a max of 1 or 2 showers for Mumbai before Thursday. Showers now could be in anytime, i mean not restricted to evening. since Mumbai is surrounded by the withdrawal, signs indicate its a matter of 4 days for Mumbai.
Rajesh, the IMD has announced the formation of a UAC in EC Arabian Sea off the Konkan-Goa coast. You had informed of the UAC having formed in your blog 3-4 days back, the IMD at that time had not mentioned any such UAC. None of the COLA models though seem to be showing the UAC currently. Also, I am finding a large variation in various models with respect to the Mumbai weather. The BBC seems to think there will be rain / showers for the next 2 days and then Sunny weather. The 00z GFS forecasts seem to suggest rains till Saturday with high CAPE values on Friday. Not sure why there is such variation across different models for this time of the year (as opposed to peak Monsoon when various systems are expected to form / not form and in varying intensities). What's your take Rajeshbhai.
NT:Will wait for the UAC to declare the retreat of SWM from Mumbai..maybe a couple of days.
