2019: Is Mumbai in for the fastest 2000 mms ever ? Will it beat the previous record of 60 days this year ?
 
Mumbai Santa Cruz total rain 1847 mms till 27th July Morning.
 
Will this year be the earliest 2000 mm (fastest) ever ? 
The current record for the fastest 2000 mms at Santa Cruz was in 1965, when it touched 2000 mms on 30th July, in 60 days. Followed by 2005 when the total was surpassed on 31st July, in 61 days.

July End Totals..scruz 1965 ;2038 mms, 2005 :2019 mms

Short this year by 153 mms and 4 days to go to beat the record for fastest ever 2000 mms !
In 2013, t happened on 1st August !

Colaba, just for the records, has crossed 2000 mms by July 3 times. In 1886, 1907 and 1991. But, we are still way behind for this station to cross 2000 mms by July end.  colaba 1402 till date.

in scruz was 2403 mmson 15th aug 1954  and 2528 mms on 15th aug in 1958

1, Low pressure area to form on Saturday in North Bay. Monsoon Axis shifts Southwards towards normal position.

2. Friday Saturday: Heavy rains in East Rajasthan and West M.P,  Haryana  and Delhi.

Delhi: Heavy showers on Saturday. 

Good rains in Vidharbh also.

Sunday: Heavy rain in North Gujarat and moderate in Saurashtra,

Konkan and Coastal Karnataka gets heavy rains on Friday thru Sunday.

South East Sindh will get cloudy and light drizzles till Sunday. 

Karachi and Southern Sindh can get some moderate showers on Monday 29th.

The UAC/Low has formed embedded in the off shore trough off the West Coast near Mumbai.

Monsoon Axis expected to come further South. 

Next 3 days, Good rains in North M.P. and SW U.P.. 

Delhi will get good showers on Thursday after a hot Wednesday...around 50-70 mms in places.

Kolkata dry spell will also end on Thursday.

Eastern Parts of Saurashtra and south Coastal Gujarat will get rains on Wednesday and Thursday.

From 20th July, Colaba Mumbai had 4 days of Thunder showers till Tuesday...27 mms, 11 mms, 44 mms and 4 mms today.

1. Monsoon Axis has Moved South, and is Moving south next 2 days.
Hence showers in Delhi on Wednesday as we noted ...22 mms in S,Jung and 17 mms at Palam. NCR Rainfall will last till Thursday.

2. BB-5,  UAC/Low Pressure formed off Odisha/North A.P. Coast.

3. West Coast off shore Trough off Kerala will deepen. 
Strong NW winds, 40-50 kmph, will lash Kerala coast as the Low Pressure BB-5 movew West.

18th/19th /20th July: Very heavy Rains in Kerala adjoining Coastal Karnatak. Heavy falls may exceed 200 mms in 24 hr in Wayanad, Kannur,  Idukki and Mallapuram Districts and some parts of Central Kerala Coastline. Local Flooding possible.
Kannur received 58 mms till Wednesday Morning.

4. 19th July: The system BB-5 tracks West and heavy rains in Chattisgarh and Vidharbh.

5. 20th/21st July: As BB-5 tracks West, Heavy rains upto 50 mms in Marathwada and Interior Maharashtra.

Unfortunately..No meaningful rains expected in Gujarat till 21st at least.
Rainfall dull and Low in Indore, will increase from Sunday...

Mumbai: WednesdayThru Sunday:  Partly Sunny and spotty showers..Status Quo in slow rains situation till Sunday..around  5-10 mms/day.

Rainfall along Axis on 13th...

Axis likely to slide South from 17th July. An UAC/LP can form off the Odisha Coast around the 17th/18th of July.
Rains may spread to East M.P. and increase along Central India and West Coast with Low Pressure Track...but lets wait !

Outlook till Wednesday 17th;

Heavy rains expected in Sub Himalayan Bengal, Sikkim and NE States. Thundershowers likely in some parts of Odisha. 

Heavy rainfall also expected in H.P. and Uttarakhand.

Moderate showers in Coastal Karnatak and Kerala
