Pradeep's  Page Updated with new Information....

Posted on Sunday @  20.00 hrs IST on 23rd June

BB-4 is positioned off the Orissa coast and at 996 mb pressure. It has an associated Upper Air Trough towards the SW, in the interior Orissa and Chattisgarh/Vidarbha region.
The system moves Westwards on Monday.

Sunday Night/Monday, we see heavy rains in Orissa State, with concentrated heavy rain in the Sambhalpur-Rourkela belt.Southwards towards Balangir we see heavy rains. The rain belt stretches along the coast into Coastal W.Bengal. Kolkata gets increased rainfall on Monday.

Tuesday, as BB-4 moves inland, we see precipitation in the Vidharbh and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra. Nagpur,Gondia, Khamgaon and Akola regions get heavy showers.
By Tuesday evening, rainfall moving into adjoining MP, with Ujjain region and the Indore -Itarsi belt getting heavy rains.
Rains move into Eastern Gujarat also.

Wednesday, precipitation seen in Eastern Gujarat region. But the eastern quadrant of the system brings rainfall to the Western MP region, especially the Itarsi-Indore belt. Adjoining Kota in Rajasthan can possibly  get rains also.

Along the west coast we see an increase in precipitation Northwards of Goa from Monday night.

Mumbai could see some increase in rain intensity from Monday night and thru Tuesday, the frequency of rain showers will increase. But moderate, as stations along Coastal Karnataka and Konkan average between 20-40 mms/day for next 3 days.

Likewise, Pune will see more cloudy overcast conditions from Monday or Tuesday with increase in rain frequency on Tuesday.

Light rains/Thunder showers creeping into the Delhi NCR  on Tuesday with around 10 mms expected. But Wednesday (an Upper Air trough takes position) could see a heavy thunder shower in some parts, with up to 25-30 mms. May break again, depending on the axis.

The Monsoon axis could possibily shift North from Thursday...But we will wait and watch the BB-4 final movements.

Uttarakhand will get showers on Monday and more heavy showers after 27th June. We presume the axis shifts Northwards.
Nepal can get excessive rains if this happens.

Hot and dry for Sindh and Southern Pakistan. Hottest spots reaching 47c...Sukkur may touch 45c and Karachi hot and dry at 35 (Heat Index 40c !)

Entire Mumbai from east to west, north to south looks very beautiful. Intense greenery, dense trees, mountains... Today Powai lake was like Scotland...it is almost overflowing!!!Mist clouds touching lakes, thick wooded mountains touching lakes - mind just gets elevated to another world. Mumbai is nothing less than Kashmir. Even many dams surrounding Panvel have started overflowing. This June has broken all records. Mumbai is still in excess of 600mm of rain, Mahabaleshwar excess of 800-900mm of rain. Mumbai is cold and raining......

Pradeeps stats indicates MAHARASHTRA is leading India for maximum rain - repetition of 2010???

Entire interior south, (KAR,Rayalseema,TN) absolutely no rain - TN hot temperature/Mandya/Mysore only 23mm since june.

Raining like roaring water falls in thane-belapur for last 24hours. May exceed 100mm. MAHA enjoys UACs from Bay and Vortex from Arabian seas. By the way will rain stop?

Interesting mao by Rakesh R in India weather blog -
Entire interior south India(TN,Rayalseema, telangana, entire south interior KAR) have received least rain in India. No systems are moving into interior south. Again bad news for BANG. But it seems during start of monsoon this was predicted. Seems NE states have also received less rain.

Pune (population : 50 lakhs) .. the oxford of the east , is the cultural capital of Maharashtra .. Pune is also immersed in history..It was the defacto capital of India for a brief period during the 18th century when the Moghuls of Delhi were at the mercy of the Peshwas (the Maratha empire rulers ) ..currently a techno savvy city..

When the world is crying hoarse about 'climate change' , a ride on the Mumbai -Pune railway is enough to get a taste of the original change in climate within a short span ( around 150 kms)..

Pune's climate is always drier and mostly invigorating than Mumbai region (on the other side of the ghats) and nights are always cozy ..Its climate is similar to Nashik..
...
Past 10 year averages for Pune city-

Jan : 30.2/11.4 , Feb:32.7/13 ,Mar:36 /16.2 , Apr:38 /20.2, May:37.1/23.1, Jun:32 /23.2,
Jul:28.5/22.5 , Aug:27.9/21.9 , Sep:29.5/21.3, Oct:31.7 /18.6 , Nov:30.9 /15.7 , Dec: 29.9/12.3 ..

Annual Rain-92 cms ,Annual avg temp -32 /18.3(25.2 c)
Highest temp-42.1c (24th Apr 2008) , Lowest temp- 04.6 c (9th Feb 2012)

SSET- does not know the meaning of break, he only knows, raining like roaring waterfalls,no sun only cloud for four months,in his dictionary Mumbai is the Cherapunji of India.

anant said...

i agree Sam, we also have to agree that SSET has a valid point of probable decreasing rainfall in interior Karnataka and Rayalseema. Its my fervent appeal to SSET to stop saying the same thing over and over again. SSET we know you have made your point, but you should be mature enough not to stretch it to a point that it is annoying for readers.
