Iraq's capital Baghdad woke up covered in a thin layer of fresh snow, an extremely rare 
phenomenon for one of the world's hottest countries. 
Baghdad is used to heat , not cold, with the Highest temperatures reaching 51c.

Last dusting of snow was in 2008, January...See Vagries Blog of 17th Jan 2008.
Other cities like Karbala and Mosul also had snow
