SWM will retreat below the 19N line (including Mumbai), as indicated in the vagaries map, from Thursday night...most conditions are in favour.
As the SWM  retreats Southwards, it leaves Maharashtra by Saturday 13th October.

An UAC can form in the Southern peninsula land region below 12N by Thursday, (due to perpendicular line of wind dis-continuity, caused by  "falling axis"). Good precipitation is expected in the entire region below 12N due to this system on 11th, and moving into Kerala next day.
The NE Monsoon starts gearing up after the 14th of October.

Chennai winds remain South due to this, and changes direction from the 13th, after the UAC moves away westwards.

Parts of Mumbai City's Northern suburbs got light rain today.
Thunderclouds accumulated in the East and North today, with our readers reporting rain from outer townships like Thane, Badlapur, and a report by mail of light rainfall in Kalyan. Places recorded upto 12-15 mms.
Some of these thunderclouds drifted west towards the city. Scruz recorded 10 mms, vagaries 2 mms and Colaba 0 mms till 8.30pm Wednesday.
South of Mumbai, there were thundershowers at some places along the coast.

A low has formed in the Bay at 92E and 18N, near the Myanmar/Bangladesh coast....Is well marked as on wednesday evening, but at 1002 hpa..moves North into Bangladesh and fades away on land

Northern India is now seeing a gradual drop in night temperatures. The extreme North, Kashmir  is seeing seasonal low temperatures at night, with Leh recording 0c, Gulmarg and Pahalgam 2c. Srinagar was 6.5c.In HP, Keylong is 2c and Kalpa 4c...

Bangalore also very hot. No sight of any clouds. We can see some clouds over Indian Ocean- will it cross in a vertical movement over Sri Lanka and reach TN for NEM? or go somewhere else?

Venkatesh -> this blog is mainly powered/enriched by Maharashtrians (Mumbai guys to be precise). If u say Comibatore rain of 30mm (cats/dogs/mouse) they may laugh. In Mumbai terms this is drizzle, anything > 150mm is heavy or okay rain. But for South Indians this is quite amusement or surprising.

Rajeshbhai, when do you see the minimum temps in Mumbai dropping? With the humidity levels dropping do you think we will start seeing minimum temperatures dropping from the current 26 degrees (at SCZ) and going down to abour 22-23 degrees in a week's time?

@sset,
There are coastal places like mangalore , Udupi , Kundapura , Bhatkal and Karwar in karnataka which receives more around 300 cms. Mangalore and Udupi gets more than 350 cms a year.
So I find your comments amusing to say the least. I find no reason why people should be surprised with 150 milli meter rains.
BTW, I have not even added Malnad regions.

correct vijay - coastal areas gets rain similar to Mumbai rains. My comments are more towards general. By and large top rains are shifting more towards MAHA, in recent years even interiors like VIDH,MARATWADA are getting good rains, but coastal KAR and MALNAD (chikmaglur,MEDIKERI..) are loosing steam. Apologies if my comments are not correct.

@sset,
Chalo its ok :)
There are so many analysis and so many guidance and perceptions going around. Water is so very critical. Hope god is kind and ensures there is good rain all over the place. River fight , court hearing on water sharing etc is all so very depressing. Less water and lots of mouths to drink. God save us all.
