Weekend snow: Russia sees 7 feet, Florida gets a dusting

19th January  2025

Parts of Russia are dealing with the aftermath of a powerful storm that dumped more than 7 feet of snow over the weekend. At the same time, northern Florida experienced rare snowfall. FOX 9 meteorologist Cody Matz reports.

Meanwhile in Australia...

Parts of Western Australia's north are sweltering through a heatwave too hot to be measured by some thermometers.

Severe heatwave conditions are affecting inland parts of WA's Pilbara region and coastal areas from Coral Bay to Kalbarri, and are expected to have maximum temperatures in the high 40s for the remainder of the week.

When the weather bureau reported maximums of nearly 48 degrees Celsius in Marble Bar this week, local caravan park owner Neil Munro said his newly bought thermometer could not capture the full brunt of the heat.

Mr Munro said in his area, the temperature surpassed 50C.

"The temperature gauge that I just bought not long ago, with the barometer and everything, I was very disappointed with it because it only goes up to 50C,"
Mr Munro said.

"It hit 50C yesterday … we've got the electronic one but that got up above 53C."

Marble Bar has been called Australia's "hottest town".
