• Highest Monsoon Rainfall: 

  The year 1917 recorded the highest monsoon rainfall in the 1901-2020 period. 
• Driest August in 2023: 

  August 2023 was the driest August since 1901, with a 36% rainfall deficit compared to the normal rainfall of 255 mm. 
• Regional Trends:

  • Some areas, like Konkan & Goa, have experienced significant increasing trends in annual and southwest monsoon rainfall over the last 120 years. 
  • Other regions have seen significant rainfall deficits.
