Snowfall in Himachal

• Snowfall turned vast stretches into white on the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh as well as Shimla’s tourist hubs, disrupting vehicular traffic and power supply, authorities said on Friday.

• The tourist resorts of Narkanda, Kharpather and Khirki as well as Kufri got 10 cm of snowfall, Manali 4 cm, Dalhousie 9 cm and Chamba 7.6 cm. One and a half feet of snow filled up the roads in Pangi in Chamba. There was one foot high snow in Koksar and Sisu in Lahaul Spiti. Snowfall also lashed Rohtang and Kaza.

• Shimla town faced icy cold winds on Thursday night. Light snow and rain have been predicted in Chamba, Lahaul Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur, Mandi, Kangra and Shimla in the coming days.

• Farmers and apple growers breathed a sigh of relief due to the good spell of rains. Keylong (Lahaul-Spiti) was coldest in the state at - 6.7c, Kalpa (Kinnaur) saw-5c, Kufri (Shimla)  -0.4c, Manali (Kullu) 0c, Shimla 3c and Dalhousie (Chamba) 4.7c
