Appreciated move by IMD. One more suggestion to IMD is calculate total seasonal rainfall not from 1 st june but from the date monsoon sets in. ( It could be earlier than 1st june or later than 1st june) But take actual date when it kicks in and start comparing seasonal rainfall statistically for the week 1 2 3 and 4 onwards begining from date when it sets in and not from 1st june. They have a mammoth task to do this for earlier period but with computers and data at their help, they can do this. Benefit is one get to know the exact rainfall for the season rather than fixing them in a time frame.
