WEEKEND SEASONAL MONSOON STATISTICS 
1 JUN - 24 AUG 2018..

*All rainfall figures in mms and distances are straight line from Scz

A) MUMBAI CITY LIMITS..(population 1 crore)
1) Mumbai Scz has received 2121 mms rainfall with 55 rainy days (atleast 2.5 mms per day) .
July month rainfall was 1139 mms.
It has missed 7 rainy days by fraction of mms.

IMD Scz .. Lowest max temp : 26.2 c , Lowest min temp : 21.2 c 

The 21st century average monsoon rains for Mumbai Scz is 2472 mms (95% + of annual rains) and annual average is 2581 mms .
Rainy days(atleast 2.5 mms) are 70 to 80.

It has scored 8 centuries (100+ mms rain in 24 hrs)  this season .
Highest 24 hrs rainfall : 231 mms 

2) Vihar (8 kms) has received 3188 (*till 22 Aug) .
It received 1570 mms monthly rain in July.

3) Tulsi (14 kms) has received 2831 (*till 22 Aug)

2) Bhiwandi reported the highest 24 hrs rain in MMR till now.. 380 mms

3) Matheran hill station has received 4487 (Madikeri is at 4401)

4) Many MMR stations received 1500+ mms monthly rain in July .

At a glance .. Mumbai (Konkan sub-division) has received more monsoon rains than major cities as usual.
The western ghats near Mumbai have received more rains than Cherrapunji and are amongst the highest rain stations in the country.

What causes Rayalseema to become drier every passing year?
Climate changes + failure of any systems to develop during break monsoon period near south bay + any lows are too far away in north bay + failure of NEM monsoons + near arid desert like conditions (no trees / lack of trees) + rain shadow region.

Pattiseema is the first project to be completed under revised national river interlinking project. Water is essence of life. On one side we have excess rains other side no water! Hope Modi government gives more importance to such projects.
