January 2025 was the hottest January for Mumbai.

Maximum temperature this

January was 33.2c, making

it the hottest January for Mumbai in history beating the previous record of 32.9c, set in January 2009.

The normal Maximum average for Jan is 31.2°c.

The average minimum was 18.5°, while the normal should be 17.3°c.

So, comparatively, the nights were a shade better.

But the EastWinds were present only in the day, thus keeping the nights cooler.The coldest night was on 9th .at 13.7° c.

The overall night /day average this year ..which was 25.85°c....thus not very high

Normal average is 24.25°c

January saw a total decrease in western disturbances,  which normally cools the city and Maharashtra. 

The north winds were absent, and replaced by dry warm easterlies.

Easterly winds were a result of a persistent high pressure ( Anti Cyclone) over central India. 

Such anti cyclones are usually shorrt lived in January..about 3/4 days.
